One of the goals of this project was to get other citizens of Ashtabula County involved by way of guest blogs. We were pleased to have Ronny Woodburn write for us again. Take a look at Ronny’s visit of Rainbow Cafe! If you would like to write a guest blog post, please let us know!
The other day my buddy from college and I decided to meet and catch up; since he lives in Erie, PA and I live in Ashtabula we decided to meet somewhere in Conneaut. When he asked where I wanted to go I immediately suggested going to the Rainbow Café.
The Rainbow Café may be a little bit hard to spot if you don’t know exactly where it is, but once you find it there is a lot of parking right on the street to make it an easy walk to get to. When you walk in you have your choice of either sitting at the tables or at the bars. I chose to sit at a table, which if you can sit facing the front door because they have a nice view of the Conneaut area.
While waiting for my friend to arrive I decided to grab a beer, the waitress was very helpful and knowledgeable about their beer selections and their specials. They have all of the classic beers most restaurants would have, as well as a good selection of IPA beers.
When my friend came we decided to split a 16 inch, pepperoni pizza. The Rainbow Café does cook their pizza fresh so it takes a little while for the food to come out, but it is very much worth the wait. The 16 inch pizza was plenty big for the two of us; the pizza was the perfect amount of sauce, cheese, and pepperoni. The crust is more of a thin crust style (which is my favorite), so if you prefer thick crust pizza it may not be your style, but definitely still worth a try.
The pizza was actually too big for me and I had to take it home; but, the pizza still tasted delicious when it was reheated the next day. And for those of you who are cold pizza lovers, it tasted good that way too.
The Rainbow Café offers more than pizza as well, boasting a menu that includes Stromboli, baked subs, sandwiches, soups, and salads. Overall, my experience at the Rainbow Café was a great one and I would definitely recommend this place to grab a bite to eat.
I’m Ronny Woodburn, a recent graduate of Baldwin Wallace University, former roommate of Tyler, and current favorite of both Tyler and Kari. My favorite types of food are Italian, Mexican, and any type of dessert.
I’ve lived in Ashtabula for almost my entire life, and have always said that this county has the best places to eat. I’m happy that I can help add to the exposure of these fantastic restaurants, and am thankful to be given the opportunity.
