One of our more recent foodie adventures came from a recommendation from a reader! There are a lot of places we just do not know about and we love to hear your favorite places in our county so we can try them out too!
A few weeks ago Tristan and I headed to The Pasta Oven for dinner on a Saturday night. The Pasta Oven is located on the corner of Footville-Richmond & Rt. 45, at 3311 S. Main St., Rock Creek. It is a ‘traditional’ mom & pop restaurant serving up your typical diner home cooked food but they also throw their own take on different items.
We were greeted at the door with a sign that said ‘Home of the World Famous Pasta Burger’. We wondered what that was. We went in and sat ourselves. It was a very quiet night but I’m pretty sure this place sees a large crowd for breakfast.
We were greeted and given menus. We ordered the sampler appetizer which came with jalapeño poppers, mozzarella sticks, chicken wings, and potato skins (which I really enjoyed because of the nacho cheese on it- a slightly different take on it!). Tristan also picked one of the soup specials, the cheesy loaded potato soup. He liked it but it was super hot when it came out and he might have burnt the roof of his mouth with the first bite :/
I opted to try the chiletti (think Cincinatti Chili) and Tristan decided to try that world-famous pasta burger (think a Romanburger®).
The portions of my meal were huge and I took a majority of it home…which made me sad because I was eyeing the pie cooler. So I decided to get a slice of banana cream pie to take home. It was worth it and really good later that night as well.
I would recommend The Pasta Oven. Make sure to check their Facebook page because they update pretty regularly on their specials for the night/upcoming nights. I would definitely come back to try out breakfast as well.
